Father's Day —Whatever This Day Holds for You . . .

Father's Day is this Sunday.
For some of you, that sentence just made you smile. You're already thinking about brunch reservations, handmade cards, and the particular joy of watching the man who shaped you open a gift he'll pretend is exactly what he wanted — even if it isn't. 😊
You are so blessed. And that blessing is worth celebrating with your whole heart.
But I also know that for others of you, that same sentence landed somewhere very different.
Maybe it settled in your chest like a quiet ache. Maybe it brought a name to mind — or a silence where a name should be. Maybe you scrolled past the Father's Day displays at the store this week and kept moving, hoping no one noticed the moment it took you to collect yourself.
This post is for both of you. It has always been for both of you.
For the Woman Who is Celebrating
If your father was — or is — a man who loved you well, please know what a treasure you carry.
A father who showed up. Who cheered for you. Who held the standard high and still held you close. Who made you feel safe in a world that isn't always safe. Who gave you a picture, however imperfect, of what it looks like to be truly loved.
Not every woman has that picture, friend. Cherish it. Honor it. Celebrate it loudly and without apology this Sunday.
And maybe — just maybe — say a quiet prayer for the woman who is holding something heavier today.
For the Woman Who is Grieving
If Father's Day is hard for you — whether because of loss, absence, wounds that were never meant to be yours to carry, or a relationship that never became what your heart longed for — I want you to know something:
Your pain is not dramatic. It is not self-pity. It is not something to push through or explain away.
It is grief. And grief deserves to be honored.
Whether your father passed away and this is your first — or your fifteenth — Father's Day without him... whether he was present in body but absent in every way that mattered... whether he caused wounds so deep you've spent years working around them without even realizing it... whether he simply never showed up and you've spent a lifetime wondering why —
You are seen. You are known. And you are not alone.
For Every Woman — The Father Who Never Fails
Here is what I know to be true regardless of your earthly father story:
There is a Father who has never missed a moment of your life.
He was there in the room where you needed protection and didn't receive it. He was there in the silence where words of affirmation should have been spoken. He was there in every season you navigated without the guidance a father should have provided.
He was there. He saw it all. And His heart broke with yours.
"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God — and that is what we are." — 1 John 3:1
You are not fatherless, friend. You are deeply, lavishly, unwaveringly loved by a Father whose love has no ceiling, no conditions, and no expiration date.
That doesn't erase the pain of an earthly wound. But it is the anchor that holds when the wound makes itself known on days like this one.
"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." — Hebrews 6:19
Whatever This Day Holds For You
If you are celebrating — celebrate fully. You have permission to enjoy every single moment.
If you are grieving — grieve honestly. You have permission to feel every single thing.
And if you find yourself somewhere in between — holding both gratitude and grief in the same hands — know that you are in very good company. That is, in fact, the most human place of all.
Wherever you land this Father's Day, I'm holding you in my heart. 🙏
And if this day stirs something in you — a longing for healing, a question you've never had space to ask, a wound you've been quietly working around — I'd love to invite you to a free consultation call. A safe, unhurried space where your story is honored exactly as it is.
